Why does Vanta ask for Always location?

Only so Drive together keeps sharing your position with your crew while Vanta is in the background. It's off unless you switch it on for a crew, and it ends automatically after 8 hours.

How do I stop sharing anonymous traffic?

Open Crew → Sharing → Help the community and switch it off. Anonymous speed readings never include your name, account or device identifier.

Is Vanta free?

Yes.
